UGHHHHHHHHH while at school today mom thought it would be an excellent idea to revert the computer back six months and not tell anybody.
so, obviously i was pissed. she erased 132 episodes of naruto, 25 episodes of bleach, 30 volumes of naruto, 14 volumes of love hina, 8 volumes of mermaid's saga, 10 episodes of full metal panic, and a few other tidbits of miscellaneous animes/mangas.
also, she erased my paint shop pro 9. i got that for free on a cd from a friend that moved, and another friend broke that cd. i lost that. i also lost several important bits of coding i had saved for future website work, as well as notes id taken. all of my saved pictures from the past 6 months were also lost, so basically i lost everything i had made that was useful in some way.
all of my music i had and all of my playlists are gone. AOL is again our primary internet source on that computer.
I AM F$%#@$%% PISSED!
i called her up and asked her if she backed anything up and she said no, why. i said i had some stuff on the computer all calmlike and she hung up on me. ........
this has happened before too. she breaks the thing, blames it on someone else, then with no regard for people that have stuff saved on those computers completely wipes the memory back six months. every time. my bro and sisters lost a few things, and my dad lost some work info. my mom was like 'oh it was only one of my pictures so i went ahead and did it.'
my space on the computer WAS 67.4 GB, but now its a mere 14. something.
*fuming pissed, thanks for bearing with me. as for comments, just share what computer misfortunes you have had -_-*

Oh I'm so glad to tell you. Here goes, my computer overheated somehow since I overplayed it and it was enclosed in a space. Told dad to fix it and he had to erase everything. EVERYTHING!!!! Then my computer got hit with a heavy object and my dad spent $100 fixing it and erased everything again.....then the computer's "brain" as he calls it fried. He fixed it again but this time it recieved a major downgrade. I got a extremely weak video card and also low RAM. Now for the first time I tried to download a pop up blocker then all of a sudden (RR%!@$!@R%@#@#T@ omg wtf lol u gotta reinstall windows!)!!!!! Well there it is. My computer is weaker and slower. And my older bro the computer genius can watch everything I do on my computer through his moniter.

see the thing is i know how to solve our computer problems, my mom just never asks me and acts on her own.
Shinobi-Kun- 08-26-2005
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA man that sux. its funny for me, since i always point and alugh at things like that when it happens to ppl, too bad eh?
Lord~Sesshomaru- 08-26-2005
well that realy sucks..i dont think anything bad has happen to my comp but a few virus
Miroku- 08-27-2005
the only thing that was big that happen to me is when my graphic card broke and we didn't no it so we had to reformat the computer and i lost all my music and video on it.
darkfire- 08-27-2005
OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like it really hurt! One time I thought my computer had a virus, so my dad told me to delete EVERYTHING. BUT!!! I had a stack of recordable CDs nearby! So I just saved everything on the CDs! About your mom, maybe you should talk to her about it. When do you usually see her?
crenel- 08-28-2005
no point in talking, she grew up in ireland. 100% irish and stubborn as a mule -_-
also, i have talked to her, but she always yells at me and tells me to go away. she says that they are her computers and she can do what she wants with them. now, if i save up 800 bucks, which i can now that i have a job, i can go ahead and make myself a good computer with internet access and a few subwoofers.
darkfire- 08-29-2005
lol 800$ is for the computer. If you want internet you have to pay monthly fees and stuff. So lets say you want to buy a computer on January 1st. You pay $800. Then, you sign up for Shaw internet (maybe) without any special offers or discounts. This means you must pay $39.99 (or something like that) every month. This means you must pay $479.88 every year. Thats a lot of cash!
crenel- 08-29-2005
im 16. i still live with my 'rents. they pay for the net.
darkfire- 08-29-2005
ok....but $800 is still quite a lot
crenel- 08-30-2005
well not really. im not driving yet, and at slightly more than minimum wage im making 200 bucks a month. my only real financial obligation is my debt to friends and family, and i can pay that off in a month and a halfish. so, roughly by my bday in february i can have myself a computer of my own in my room. we already have the wireless net connecters.

I have a story. Our disk drive went out in our compaq that we had had for like four years. Of course in computer age, that's pretty old considering it had never been anywhere to have work done on it. Well of course my mom blames me telling me that because sometimes I would forget to take the disk out of the disk drive when I shut down the computer it busted, which is only logical in her opinion. But of course that was not the case, floppy drives break, it's a rule of thumb. Anyway so my boyfriend and I went to best buy to get a new disk drive that I paid for since it was obviously my fault. He installed it, but something happened and the computer wouldn't start, uh oh, I know. So we took it to bestbuy Geek Squad and they opened it and told us it was basically gone. Turns out the new disk drive had a piece of metal that had fallen off and fried the mother board and shot the whole computer into h***. So then my boyfriend bought a new computer for my family feeling it was his fault that it busted in the first place, and now we both never live it down. Sometimes they call him "computer killer" which is harsh because it wasn't really his fault and he felt bad. But heck he bought a new one for them which is much more than most would have done!

Get an external drive. Get three. Save up and buy them, and save everything important on them. If you have room, do it twice. Fits into your USB port, and rarely needs to be formatted, so it works with most computers. The best defence is a good offence.
Dang. I've lost hours of pixeling, but I'm so mellow, it doesn't even bum me out. I can't even comprehend losing all that material. My condolences.

Well my issue was a long time ago and the only thing I really lost was some starts of novels that I had been writing, but they weren't good anyway so it wasn't much of a loss. It was my father who lost a lot so Oh well. But thanks for the advice. Now I burn a lot to CD's that's important.
and put backups on my laptop.
